Pair Of 1970s Vono Swivel Egg Lounge Chairs & Matching Footstool Brown Velvet Vintage Retro MCM

A striking pair of 1970s swivel egg lounge chairs by British manufacturer, Vono, complete with a matching footstool, all upholstered in a warm caramel brown velvet.

A wonderful example of 1970s space-age furniture design, featuring dramatic high backs, sculptural curved shells and generously proportioned winged arms that wrap around the sitter.

Both chairs retain their original button-tufted upholstery, with deeply cushioned backs, padded headrests and removable seat cushions. The beautifully shaped outer shells are finished with decorative button detailing to the rear, making these chairs equally impressive from every angle.

Each chair sits on a four-star metal swivel base, with the matching button-tufted footstool supported by a polished chrome base.

The light brown velvet, exaggerated proportions and organic curves capture the unmistakable style of the 1970s, combining statement design with exceptional comfort.

A fantastic matching three-piece lounge set and a particularly eye-catching example of British space-age furniture from the period.

Vono was an established British furniture manufacturer founded in Tipton, Staffordshire, in 1896. Originally renowned for its beds and mattresses, the company later produced a range of distinctive upholstered lounge furniture.

During the 1960s and 1970s, Vono became associated with sculptural swivel armchairs, including its celebrated ‘Penthouse’ egg chair. With their dramatic curved shells, deeply buttoned upholstery and innovative swivel mechanisms, these designs perfectly captured the space-age aesthetic of the period.

Today, Vono’s original egg chairs are increasingly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of British mid-century design.
