Mid Century Stag Fineline Tall Boy/Chest Of Drawers By John & Sylvia Reid Vintage Retro MCM

A simple, but elegant Stag Fineline tall boy/chest of drawers designed by John and Sylvia Reid dating from the early 1960s.

Features five drawers, on tubular metal legs, with a minimalistic Scandinavian design that offers a fresh and contemporary feel to any room.

Finished in honeyed birch veneer, with satinised steel lip handles and sitting on original metal legs.

This range was only produced for a short period between 1961 & 1962.

A matching desk/dressing table and a smaller chest of drawers are available on separate listings.

John and Sylvia Reid were both working architects, and gained valuable experience working for influential British designer, Robin Day and Hille in the early 1950s. They were asked to design a range of furniture for Stag, and fostered a 10-year partnership between 1952 and 1962 with the manufacturer. Taking inspiration from the prevailing Scandinavian designers of the time, and drawing on their architectural background, John and Sylvia were among the pioneers of British mid century modern furniture.
