Dark Orange Four Piece Modular Sofa/Chairs Mid Century Vintage Retro MCM

A spectacular 1970s modular sofa, upholstered in its wonderfully rich burnt dark orange dralon velvet and displaying all the bold, futuristic styling associated with the Space Age era.

The suite comprises four individual seating sections, allowing it to be arranged in a number of different configurations. Positioned together, the modules form an impressive gentle curved sofa, while they can also be separated to create a two-seater sofa and pair of individual lounge chairs, or used entirely independently. The arms can be bolted off if necessary.

Each section features a generously proportioned, high-backed profile with deep horizontal channel detailing and beautifully sculpted curves. The two end sections incorporate substantial padded armrests, while the armless central sections allow the suite to flow seamlessly when arranged together.

The original burnt orange upholstery is particularly striking. Depending on the light, the velvet shifts between deep rust, terracotta, burnt orange and dark copper tones, giving the sofa a wonderfully warm and luxurious appearance.

Low-slung and exceptionally comfortable, the design has a distinctly Space Age/1970s lounge aesthetic, reminiscent of the relaxed modular interiors of the period. Its combination of exaggerated proportions, curved forms and rich velvet makes it an impressive statement piece.

The modular construction also makes this an unusually versatile large sofa: it can create one dramatic continuous seating arrangement or be divided around a room as required.

The colour is a burnt dark orange, not red.
