Mid Century Brown Leather Robin Day For Habitat Forum II Three Seater Sofa Vintage Retro MCM
An iconic and classic ‘Forum II’ brown leather three seater sofa designed by Robin Day for Hille. Originally designed in 1964, and later licensed and manufactured by Habitat in the late 90s.
The sofa is surround by three sides of two ash planks and is held up by chromed-steel legs with plastic feet. There is also a cleverly designed large angled fabric-covered support cushion, which can’t be seen when the cushions are all in place that angles the back cushions forward for additional comfort.
Complete with Habitat labels.
Robin Day is one of the most significant British designers of the 20th century. Since winning first prize in the Storage Section of the International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture Design (organised by MOMA in 1948), Day built a legacy of innovation and forward focused design.
As a result of winning the MOMA award, Robin Day was sought out by the cabinet-making firm of S.Hille & Co, and began a partnership that flourished over the ensuing decades. Hille company had specialized in reproduction furniture but with the ambitious young designer on board, Hille completely changed direction and embraced modern design.
