Mid Century G Plan Librenza Brasilia Teak Room Divider/Bookcase Vintage Retro MCM
A beautiful tall teak room divider or bookcase manufactured by G Plan in England during the 1960s.
Designed by Victor Wilkins as part of the ‘Brasilia’ Range.
These stunning room dividers were only in production from 1964–1972 making them much rarer than the more common Librenza Tola range. Featuring contrasting solid teak scalloped door & drawer handles, removable shelving, three good sized drawers, double cupboard and a drop down ‘drinks’ cupboard and offering plenty of storage.
The piece sits on a solid teak swooping base.
The back of this room divider is finished, so it can work as a room divider also decorated or can work perfectly against a wall.
The name 'Librenza' was devised by Doris Gundry (J Walter Thompson - advertising agency) being a combination of library and cadenza. Doris Gundry was also the inspiration behind the G-plan name and early G-Plan slogans.
The scoop-like wooden handles came from the 1964 Brazilia range.
