Mid Century Stag S Range John & Sylvia Reid Large Teak Sideboard Vintage Retro MCM

The ‘S’ range large teak sideboard designed by John and Sylvia Reid for Stag in the early 1960s as part of their S range and retailed through Heals.

The Stag S Range was produced between 1960 and 1963, after which time it was discontinued due to a lack of commercial success. This range has not been reissued or reproduced since.

Featuring their original iconic nickel-plated V-shaped legs and L-shaped handles. The handles were all custom made and are recessed neatly on the top of the drawer and door fronts.

We have other items in the S Range available which include a small sideboard, the large sideboard and bench.

John and Sylvia Reid were both working architects, and gained valuable experience working for influential British designer Robin Day and Hille in the early 1950s. They were asked to design a range of furniture for Stag, and fostered a 10-year partnership between 1952 and 1962 with the manufacturer. Taking inspiration from the prevailing Scandinavian designers of the time, and drawing on their architectural background, John and Sylvia were among the pioneers of British Mid Century Modern furniture.
