Nils Jonsson (1914-1958) was a Swedish furniture designer and craftsman, known for his mid-century modern designs. He was born in Småland, Sweden, and began his career as an apprentice in a furniture factory at the age of 14.

In the 1940s, Jonsson started his own furniture workshop in the small town of Tranas, where he created his signature style of furniture, characterized by clean lines, organic shapes, and high-quality craftsmanship. He was inspired by the work of other Scandinavian designers, such as Alvar Aalto and Bruno Mathsson, but also added his own unique touch to his designs.

Jonsson's most famous design is the "Delphi" chair, which he created in 1954 for the Swedish Pavilion at the Triennale di Milano exhibition.

Jonsson's work was highly influential in the Scandinavian design movement, and he received many awards and accolades during his career. He died at a young age of 44 in 1958, but his legacy lives on through his innovative and timeless furniture designs. Nils Jonsson's furniture has been exhibited in art and design museums around the world, including New York's Museum of Modern Art and London's Victoria and Albert Museum. His career has been marked by numerous prestigious awards, including Chicago's Good Design Award in 1960 and the Lunning Prize in 1959. Today, his furniture is considered a classic of modern design and is sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts worldwide.

Swedish furniture maker Troeds was founded in 1934 by Svea and Hugo Troedsson in the small community of Bjärnum. As the desirability of Scandinavian furniture grew internationally, Troeds expanded production and collaborated with some of Sweden’s most talented Architect designers including Nils Jonsson and Yngve Ekström.

By the mid-1950s Troeds had become one of Swedens leading furniture makers and Bjarnum was a thriving hub for the Swedish furniture industry. The company focused on exporting premium furniture to Europe, the UK and the United States, producing designs that combined lightness of form, beauty and function - the essence of Scandinavian Modern.

Today, Troeds is still in family operation, run by Bengt Troedsson with his wife Britt-Marie.
