A handsome pair of Danish brown leather armchairs designed by Georg Thams for Grant Møbelfabrik, dating from the latter half of the 20th century.

The chairs have a strong, architectural silhouette, with gently curved arms and backs set above elegant dark-stained timber frames. Each armchair is upholstered in rich dark brown leather, with loose seat and back cushions and padded side cushions that give the chairs a particularly inviting, lounge-like character. The restrained frame and generous leather upholstery are characteristic of Scandinavian modern design, balancing clean lines with comfort and quality craftsmanship.

The original leather has developed an attractive aged patina, with natural creasing, tonal variation and signs of use that add considerable character. The timber frames also show age-related wear consistent with vintage use. Overall, the pair presents beautifully, retaining the relaxed appearance that makes original vintage leather so appealing.
