Pair Of Stonehill ‘His & Her’ Teak Wardrobes 1960s Mid Century Vintage Retro MCM Set 2

A matching pair of ‘his & her’ teak wardrobes manufactured in England during the 1960s by Stonehill Furniture.

Beautifully designed in the Danish modern style, featuring richly figured teak grain, contrasting horizontal bands across the doors and distinctive sculpted wooden handles.

Both wardrobes stand on elegant tapered legs, giving them a classic mid-century silhouette.

Designed to complement one another, the wardrobes offer different internal storage configurations. One features a full-width hanging rail, while the other combines hanging space with a series of fitted shelves and an internal mirror.

A lovely example of British mid-century craftsmanship, offering generous storage without compromising on design.

The wardrobes can be positioned together as a matching pair or used separately.

Stonehill Furniture was a British furniture manufacturer whose origins date back to 1910, when Austrian-born cabinetmaker Nathan Steinberg established a furniture-making business in London.

Following the Second World War, the company became known as Stonehill Furniture, operating from its principal factory in Edmonton, North London.

During the 1950s and 1960s, Stonehill became particularly well known for its Scandinavian-inspired furniture, producing contemporary bedroom and dining room ranges in teak. Their designs featured clean lines, distinctive sculpted handles and practical storage solutions, reflecting the growing popularity of Danish modern furniture in Britain.

The business was subsequently run by Nathan’s sons, Philip and Maurice Steinberg, and continued operating into the 1980s.

Today, Stonehill is particularly remembered for its teak sideboards, wardrobes and occasional furniture, which remain popular examples of British mid-century design.
