Designed by Annie Hiéronimus in 1980 for Ligne Roset, this exceptional seating ensemble is a wonderful expression of the relaxed, unconventional approach to furniture design that emerged in France at the beginning of the 1980s. Totally in the spirit of the “Eighties and its couch potato generation”.

Characterised by its low, generous proportions and wonderfully soft, enveloping form, the design moves away from the rigid construction of a traditional sofa in favour of something altogether more informal and inviting. Deep cushioning, softly gathered upholstery and gently sloping backrests give each piece an almost sculptural quality, while the loose lumbar cushions enhance its distinctive sense of comfort.

The suite is upholstered in a beautiful dusty pink wool, a warm and understated colour that complements the softness of the design particularly well. Subtle folds and creases across the upholstery are integral to its relaxed character, giving the pieces an appealing lived-in appearance rather than a formally tailored finish. Contrasting light-coloured detailing along the seams provides a subtle graphic accent and emphasises the unusual construction.

Comprising a sofa, armchair and matching ottoman, the set can be arranged together as a complete seating environment or used individually. The ottoman extends the sofa into an exceptionally comfortable lounging arrangement, while the generous armchair echoes the same cocoon-like proportions on a smaller scale.
