Set Of Four Italian Gio Ponti Style Ebonised Black Ladderback Dining Chairs Mid Century Vintage Retro MCM

A striking set of four mid century Italian dining chairs combining an elegant architectural beech frame with beautifully contrasting hand-woven rush seats.

The chairs feature exceptionally slender ebonised timber frames, with tall, gently tapered backs formed from five curved horizontal ladderback rails. The elongated uprights, fine legs and restrained stretcher arrangement give the chairs a wonderfully light, graphic quality typical of post-war Italian modernism.

The black ebonised finish contrasts beautifully with the warm, natural tones and texture of the woven rush seats. Each seat is traditionally woven in a geometric pattern, bringing an organic element to the otherwise clean, linear construction. Viewed together, the repetition of the ladder backs creates a particularly strong sculptural presence.
