Trygg Mobler Superstar Armchair & Footstool By Sigurd Resell Mid Century Vintage Retro MCM

A beautiful and rare armchair 'Superstar' designed by Sigurd Resell and made by Trygg Mobler in Denmark, they were only produced in limited numbers between 1973-76.

These models were made in limited numbers due to a legal battle by Vatne Mobler and the similarities with the ‘falcon chair’.

The tan brown leather seat hangs with leather belts and straps in a bent wooden frame with a canvas support.

Comes with a matching footstool, which is even rarer than the chair itself.

The superstar chair was produced by Trygg Mobler for a limited period as Vatne Mobler who produced the Falcon chair, successfully halted their production with a court action taken against Trygg Mobler. As a result the superstar chair is much rarer and more highly sort after.

Falcon chairs were originally designed in 1970 by Sigurd Ressell for Vatne Mobler. They come in several variations with later models using a bent wood frame rather than the steel frame. Whilst the superstar chair was produced a couple of years later with a couple of variations that most consider to be an improvement.

The key differences between the falcon chairs and the superstar chair are the superstar chairs have buckled straps that attach the canvas sling to the frame and come with the addition of arm rests which add to the comfort of the chair.
